green beetle cropped button up top - gunk - open closet

$42.00 USD

This piece of clothing is part of our Open Closet program and has been reimagined by Colorado-based artist, George Gardner. Open closet styles include pre-loved, reimagined items, and samples. Each piece is carefully washed, repurposed, mended and reimagined if needed.

The hands behind Gunk belong to George Gardner, a queer, multimedia,
upcycle-loving, artist based in Boulder, CO. They love to explore imaginative and interconnective image creation, often inspired by different aspects of nature and humanity. Whether these images end up on jewelry, clothing, paper, or canvas, Gardner makes it a point to use as much recycled material as possible. This is one of the many reasons teaming up with tonlé has created a beautiful synergy. This collection is made up of printed, one-of-a-kind pieces. The prints were done completely by hand with a hand-carved linocut block stamp. Details were carefully drawn or painted on by hand. This is Gunk’s first clothing collection to be launched online, and tonlé is proud to share it with our community!

All tonlé clothing and accessories are made from reclaimed textiles that we’re diverting from landfills. Open Closet is a way to extend the life of those finished garments, prevent them from ending up in a landfill, and avoid the undermining of another economy when they hit the donation bin. Join us as we create a sustainable fashion future together: trade in pre-worn tonlé clothing and subscribe to our new, curated rental box! Our rental boxes combine our popular curated sample box concept with our circular open closet program. Read our FAQ's and learn more about why we do it here.
