hand-painted sothea dress with fern print - open closet reimagined - small

$98 USD

Our Open Closet Reimagined Collection engages makers from our community to take garments with perceived imperfections and use them as a springboard for their imagination- resulting in fresh, one-of-a-kind pieces for a wardrobe that's uniquely you. For our first round of Reimagined pieces, makers from the tonlé team worked with dye, paint, and bleach resist to upcycle each piece into a new work of art.

This dress has been hand-dyed to create a one-of-a-kind piece. The adjustable drawstring waist on this loose fitting dress allows it to be worn in a number of ways. Tie the belt can be tied in the back for a cinched waist and fitted silhouette, or the knot the tie in front to leave the dress looser with a boxy shape. The versatile dress can be dressed up or down, and has two side pockets for anything you need close at hand. This piece has been hand-painted and was made from remnant rayon/linen as part of our unique, zero-waste process.

This reimagined pre-owned dress is available through open closet, our circular fashion resale platform.

This piece is made from linen and or a cotton/linen blend – sourced as deadstock and offcuts left over from larger garment manufacturers. To best take care of your zero waste upcycled garment (and to protect the earth), we recommend machine washing in cold water, and hanging to dry. This garment can be ironed on medium heat, but after linen is washed a few times, it softens and does not need much ironing. Our fabrics are hand selected each week from remnant markets where large manufacturers bring discarded off-cuts and deadstock, and we do our best to select the most consistent, comfortable, and high quality fabrics. Fabrics are pre-washed and shrunk, but if you machine dry this garment it may shrink slightly.
